The Asheville area and western North Carolina has much to offer groups coming to be a part of missions, recreation, or some combination of both. Having close to 20 years of experience in planning church related travel, we have developed relationships with many valuable lodging and activity partners that help make our area the great destination that it is today.
For whitewater rafting and outdoor retreats, we are pleased to partner with Nantahala Outdoor Center, the oldest and largest outfitter in the region. NOC is very well known nationally in outdoor recreation, and we always know that our groups will be well served. Groups often make whitewater rafting a bonus activity for their hard work during a mission week.
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a beautiful retreat and conference center nestled in the mountains east of Asheville. We have hosted groups there from 40 to 400 persons. There is a wide range of lodging options from retreat center to cottages sleeping from 4 persons to 90.
Lutheridge/Lutherock Ministries maintains two retreat and conference centers. The Asheville center is a great place to retreat in all seasons and groups enjoy the feeling of getting away while being close to many activities.
The Ramada Inn, River Ridge Shopping Center in Asheville, has been a wonderful partner, offering quality affordable lodging to our groups. Close to the interstate and to needed stores and amenities, The Ramada Inn becomes a convenient haven after a work day or day of busy activities.
Asheville’s Fun Depot is a fun stop during a busy missions week. Following a Christian theme, the Fun Depot has the fun stuff youth (and adults) love—including go carts, laser tag, arcade games, batting cages, climbing wall and much more.
The Fiddlin’ Pig is the place to have a hoe down and chow down at the same time. Groups insist this is one of the highlights of the week for them, great BBQ and live bluegrass music. Everyone has the chance to give a shot at clogging—sometimes entertainment on its own!
No serious traveler to the Asheville area has made their trip complete without a visit to the Biltmore Estate. George Vanderbilt’s magnificent French Chateau is America’s largest home. Its 250 rooms and 10,000 acres make it a unique destination. Each summer we work with Biltmore Estate in promoting an outdoor concert with a premier Christian performing artist.
